Educator in the Workforce (EIW) experiences raise awareness of in-demand careers and the knowledge and skills students need to thrive in them. Participants meet with professionals, at their workplaces, and hear the stories of their educational and career pathways. They learn about local companies, their products and services, and the variety of job opportunities available. We also engage with post-secondary institutions to better understand their connections with the workforce and how they prepare students and meet employer needs. Host businesses and schools are encouraged to offer immersive activities for participating educators to provide each with an opportunity to experience the featured careers. EIW experiences culminate in a debriefing session led by Consortium for Public Education staff. Participants have time to reflect and share, ask questions, and begin to think about ways they can incorporate their experiences and learnings into their schools and classrooms to better prepare students for their futures.
All site visit registrants will be asked to watch a 15 minute recording of the webinar before your first site visit. When you register for EIW training, you will be emailed a link to this recording.
Thanks to PDE for our PAsmart funding, ABC CREATE educators from partner districts can earn $40/hour stipends for attendance. Space available for at least 30 educators. |
